Why this site does not pick one
Comparison pages usually exist to move a reader towards one of the two things being compared. This one is written the other way round. Radiofrequency and microfocused ultrasound use different energy, reach different depths and suit different faces, and neither is the default. The site sets out what each one does and what each one cannot do, in equal detail, and leaves the choice where it belongs: with an assessment of your face.
What both options have in common
Both give a modest change in mild laxity, both develop over months rather than during the session, and both fade as ageing continues. Neither repositions tissue that has descended, neither removes fat, neither restores volume and neither changes pigment. Saying so plainly is part of the comparison rather than a criticism of either option, because a patient who expects a lift from a device will be disappointed whichever one is used.
Neither option is a stage of anything else
A device treatment is not a sensible first step towards an operation, and an operation is not what follows when a device disappoints. They answer different problems: heat changes the quality of tissue that is mildly loose, and surgery changes where tissue sits. A patient whose problem is mild laxity may never need a surgical assessment; a patient whose problem is descent will not be served by any number of energy sessions. Anyone presenting the two as a sequence is describing a sales path rather than a clinical one.
How it is reviewed, and what no website can do
Content is medically reviewed by Ke He, MD, head of skin and laser aesthetics at Chongqing West District Hospital, and the review date appears on every article. The site names no product and no brand, quotes no dosage and no price, and guarantees no outcome. It also cannot tell you how much of the change in your face is laxity, how much is descent and how much is volume loss — which is the whole of the decision. Read this site to arrive at that appointment able to ask sharper questions, not to arrive at a conclusion without it.
